On November 29, 2022, the Township of Lopatcong adopted Ordinance §123 Floodplain Management Regulations in order to comply with the requirements of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). This ordinance includes construction standards for projects with propose to improve or alter structures and/or properties located within FEMA designated floodplains and/or flood hazard areas. Proposed improvements or alterations situated in designated floodplains or flood hazard areas are subject to a permit application, oversight, and approval process to be administrated and enforced by the Township Floodplain Administrator. The Township Floodplain Development Permit Application, as well as supplemental Worksheets are included below on this webpage. Additionally, a Township wide floodplain and flood hazard area map created from the FEMA National Flood Hazard Layer Viewer is provided as well as a tutorial to access existing flood plans and profiles via New Jersey State Geographic Information System.
Please direct all Floodplain Development Permit Applications to the Township Floodplain Administrator at the email or physical address provided on this webpage. The Township Floodplain Administrator retains copies of all permits and design documents in connection with development of properties subject to review under the Floodplain Development Ordinance. Please contact the Floodplain Administrator for copies of these records.
Please coordinate with the Township Floodplain Administrator and/or Township Construction Official for any inspections required pursuant to §123 Article VI.
